Gov. Whitmer and Lt. Governor Gilchrist know we need to fix our roads and keep families safe to build stronger communities.

While there’s still more work to do, Governor Whitmer has been fixing our roads - and doing it the right way, using the right mix and materials so they stay fixed and paying skilled workers good wages. By the end of her first term, the state will fix over 16,000 lane miles of road and 1,200 bridges. That has supported nearly 90,000 jobs. She also launched the Rebuilding Michigan Plan, which makes a $3.5 billion investment in highways and bridges over 5 years - without raising gas prices.

The Whitmer/Gilchrist administration also made major investments in public safety because everyone deserves to feel safe no matter where they live. They have invested millions to hire and train state police officers, including 911 upgrades and expanded mental health services. They’ve also proposed a $75 million plan to tackle crime, including ending the court backlog and ensuring law enforcement has the resources they need, along with community investments in counseling and jobs programs.
